Fort Wayne Guitar Lessons was created by professional guitar teacher and guitarist, Tom Castonzo, a Berklee alumnus and successful professional with over twenty years of professional music experience as a guitarist and guitar teacher. Tom is the guitarist for the prestigious Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra and currently records and performs with Chicago blues and national recording artist Bill Lupkin. Tom is also the creator of the Fort Wayne Blues and Soul Food Bash, an annual event to help raise funds and awareness for people living with disabilities.

Ryan Lentine Earns the Homstead H.S. Jazz Band Guitar Position
The next time you attend a Homestead High School Jazz Band concert, pay close attention the the guy holding it down on guitar. Ryan Lentine is one of Tom's newest students to blaze a proud path through the Jazz wilderness. Tom and Ryan have been working on on-the-fly chord construction, chord harmony, artistic considerations when comping, Jazz improvisation, and Jazz solo transcription. Tom is also showing Ryan how to apply the Jazz concepts covered in guitar lessons to other musical styles and also how Ryan can apply those concepts to his own compositions. Congratulations Ryan - We look forward to watching you grow as a guitarist and composer!
Jim Perona Receives Scholarship for Masters Program at New England Conservatory
Tom's student, Jim Perona, has accepted a guitar scholarship from the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music, in Boston, where he will pursue a Masters degree in classical guitar. Jim will be studying with world renowned guitarist and performer, Eliot Fisk.
Jim started guitar lessons and studying guitar with Tom when he was only nine years old and continued through high school. When studying with Tom, Jim worked on sight reading, improvisation, transcription, chord theory, composition, technique, and ear training. Jim was also a frequent guest guitarist at Tom's own gigs with The Amy Kelly Band.
While in high school, Jim began playing in pit orchestras for commercial musical productions as well as several prog rock bands. With those valuable skills and experience under his fingers Jim auditioned and received a guitar scholarship from Northern Illinois University to study with Jazz & Classical guitarist Fareed Haque. Jim now continues his guitar education at New England Conservatory of Music.
